What does ChatGPT know about Brighton?

First I wanted to ascertain whether ChatGPT knows about Brighton so I asked “Do you know about Brighton?” and the bot responded: “Brighton is a city in the county of East Sussex on the south coast of England. It is known for its vibrant arts scene, beautiful architecture, and popular beach. It has a population of about 275,000 people and is located about an hour south of London by train. Is there anything specific you would like to know about Brighton?”

What does ChatGPT know about the Brighton music scene?

What do you know about the music scene in Brighton? “Brighton has a vibrant and diverse music scene, with a wide range of genres and live music venues. The city has a rich history of music and has been home to many influential musicians and bands over the years. Some of the notable musicians and bands from Brighton include Fatboy Slim, The Kooks, and British Sea Power. In recent years, Brighton has also become known for its electronic music scene, with many popular clubs and festivals. Overall, the music scene in Brighton is an important part of the city's culture and is enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike.”

Fatboy Slim & The Kooks?

I was interested in this response for a few reasons but the mention of specific artists was intriguing. In my next question I wanted to see what the bot knew about Fatboy Slim:

“What do you know about Fatboy slim?” “Fatboy Slim is the stage name of Norman Cook, a British DJ, musician, and record producer. He is known for his electronic dance music and has had many hit songs, including "Right Here Right Now," "The Rockafeller Skank," and "Praise You." Cook was born and raised in Brighton, and his music is heavily influenced by the city's vibrant music scene. He is also a member of the band The Housemartins and has worked with many other artists over the years. Cook has been active in the music industry since the 1980s and is considered one of the pioneers of the electronic dance music genre.”

This is again an excellent top level response. Interestingly the mention of The Housemartins was something I had never heard of and actually learnt through using this bot.

Does ChatGPT have an opinion on the Brighton music scene?

The answer is unfortunately boring for this question. Obviously, as a language model, it can’t form opinions and lets us know this. Worth a shot though.

“What do you think about the music scene in Brighton?”

“As a large language model, I don't have personal thoughts or opinions. I am designed to provide accurate and helpful information based on the text that I have been trained on, but I don't have personal beliefs or biases. My goal is to help answer your questions to the best of my ability and provide you with information that is accurate and relevant. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to try to help.”

Why am I doing this?

In short, I was playing around and just found the answers to these questions super interesting.

ChatGPT is an interesting and incredibly impressive language model that can produce answers to questions in a conversational fashion.

ChatGPT has had huge advances in the last 6 months since I first heard of it and now it is being thought of as a potential Google killer. And I can see why.

It has immediate advantages in the fact that the more you use it in a single thread it remembers the previous questions and relates them together. Which is why it can do impressive things like the following:

The fact it can remember your entire conversation and talks in such a way is a huge advancement on the type of responses Google and other search engines provide at the moment.

Why would you use ChatGPT?

Why not ask the bot and see:
“Could you explain the point of using you?”
“The point of using a large language model like me is to provide accurate and helpful information on a wide range of topics. I am trained on a vast amount of text data, which enables me to understand and generate human-like responses to questions and prompts. I can help answer a wide variety of questions, provide definitions and explanations, and offer information on a wide range of topics. My goal is to assist users in finding the information they are looking for and help them better understand the world around them. I am not able to browse the internet or provide real-time information, but I can provide helpful and accurate information based on the text I have been trained on.”
