Room Service drag us to the dancefloor with dreamy new single ‘Plastic Cosmic Fantastic Hotel’

The funky Brighton based 6 piece are back with a lesson in indie perfection. Their new single, ‘Plastic Cosmic Fantastic Hotel’ is a surreal indie funk record that takes you in multiple different directions, one even being a Pitbull reference. (And it works?!).

The song opens with a dreamy guitar track that harkens back to their soft indie work such as their 2023 single ‘Cosmos: Somewhere Between The Sun and The Moon’ (They do love a long title). It foreshadows the funk aspect perfectly with whispers of brass before transitioning into a funky pop beat and stunning vocals from the band’s vocalist Héléna Marchand that blend perfectly with the upbeat-jazzy vibes of the smooth riffs and pacing.

The chorus crescendos into more technical funk, but the band keep it poppy and fun, something to be enjoyed perfectly on the dancefloor after a few.

My favourite part of the song is toward the end, there’s a break in the beat and we get a callout from the band referencing pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service”, A hilarious reference that works perfectly in reflecting the band’s unserious nature and the nightlife vibes of the track.

Room Service are most certainly here to have fun. ‘Plastic Cosmic Fantastic Hotel’ showcases not only that, but also each member of the band’s unique skill and talent working together to create something truly fantastic. With a playful set-up at Seaford’s ‘Little Theatre‘ for their equally erratic music video – we can’t wait to see what’s next from the funk outfit!
