Rankd x Flavours

Psych hit-makers 'Flavours' self-release their second single 'Still Heavy'
Releasing a striking follow-up to their earlier debut ‘Coloured Image’ from ’24, Flavours are inviting listeners to bathe in the chorus-soaked psychedelia that Line of Best Fit have coined ‘a remedial slice of shoegaze’. With an ongoing sound evolution, the outfit have chiselled away at a more ethereal sound that is uniquely theirs, and ‘Still Heavy’ is the highly-anticipated result.
With vocals and instrumentation reminiscent of psych/rock pioneers Cream, Tame Impala and Queens of the Stone Age – Sam, George, Jude and Ben are playing homage to a nostalgic sound while incorporating their own exotic twists – crunchy guitar melodies, cascading solos and sweeping ride-breaks amongst the comfort of psychedelic convention.
Sending ripples across the grassroots music scene, Flavours have also caught the deserved attention of Latitude and Wilderness festival back in 2024 – earning their top-podium position on the radar of the shoegaze-savvy, and the rock ‘n’ roll converts. It’s anticipated that the 4-piece will be sweeping across the country in ’25, making festival appearances while balancing their longstanding relationship with Brighton’s local venues.
They’ll be celebrating the release of ‘Still Heavy’ later this evening (07/02) with a release show courtesy of Whattawally promotions – featuring a melting-pot of Brighton’s finest under the wing of the iconic Green Door Store. Flavours’ unorthodox approach to their craft, with eccentric song structure and a rebellious technicality across their small-but-strong discography, will be complemented by the captivating awe of Call Me Franco, The Wrong Trousers and Nel Blu – kicking off their year in style.
Forming in 2023, the band continue to turn heads two years later, and are showing no signs of surrender with their latest release – a timeless psych + shoegaze concoction that can’t be missed.
