Low-end lovers 'Droop' return with their self-titled EP

Sitting in the heavier pocket of local music, Droop have pushed their tempo-changing, erratic agenda across the grassroots landscape. Recently celebrating 2 years since their formation, they have commemorated this landmark with the release of their debut self-titled EP – featuring 4 unapologetically gritty tracks that dive head-first into a chaotic frenzy of noise, grooves and sludge.

With reverb-soaked growls and a pounding drum backbone, the outfit have garnered a local legacy, spilling their hearts into captivating live shows and ear-ringing, gut-rumbling goodness that has pushed them to unprecedented heights on the doorstep in Brighton & Eastbourne. Translating their sweat-filled gig immersion to the recorded EP is no easy feat, but with the expertise of Matt Pugh at Brighton Electric, Droop have captured their fury into a 4-track package. Their an infectious ‘can-do’ attitude has earnt them stages with local compadre’s Believe in Nothing and Black Groove – who have also nurtured the noise-dominated sounds of the South East.

Our personal favourite is the opening track ‘Electric Spider’, setting a rage-filled foundation for an EP that cuts no corners and showcases the jaw-dropping complexity of the ‘Droop’ sound. Cascading breakdowns, biting distortion and ride-led intermissions that create a dynamic blend of sound and sensations.
